Identify issues from the current Canadian and American Elections!!!

Remember an issue is a topic that connects to citizenship, identity and quality of life, and on which well-informed people have different views and perspectives.

An issue:
  • Involves a topic that receives a wide range of responses from different people.
  • Is framed in an open-ended, unbiased question that cannot be easily solved by one clear right or wrong answer.
  • Requires an informed response, supported by clear and relevant reasons and appropriate examples.
  • Requires critical thinking and personal reflection.
  • Requires understanding and appreciation of multiple perspectives and responses to create an informed response.
  • Requires background knowledge and research to create an informed response.

Each issue will be created by adding a page. You must attempt to follow the "Spot and Respond to the issue" sheets (handout I-3) when creating the page. You must add links to develop the background info and points of view, therefore, allowing others to create their own informed response. Do not forget to insert your name(s) at the top of the page.

Our understanding of these issues will grow throughout the year as we gain knowledge of the issues and the different perspectives. These pages will NOT be complete until the end of the school year.
